I’ve already talked about the Importance of Regular Keyword Research in our post “Using Google Trends for Effective Keyword Research”. Now, I’d like to introduce other great free keyword research tools you can use to compliment your research and create content that drives targeted traffic and converts.
Forget about it … for the most part
In the past, marketing professionals relied on Google’s Keyword Planner for much of their keyword research however, it no longer offers the accurate volume data desired. This has created a need for alternative keyword research solutions. While it’s still a useful free keyword research tool to utilize, here’s a handy list of alternative keyword solutions below.
Use Google Analytics
The more information you have about the keywords people use to find your product or services the better you can optimize your website content for Search Engines. Google Analytics allows you to track traffic, compare new vs. returning traffic and find out your traffic sources. It is within this “Traffic Sources” tab where you can find out which keywords people are using to find your site.
Check AdWords Search Terms Report
Google AdWords has a built-in feature called the search terms report. These are terms people searched for to receive your ad which resulted in a click. It is here you can identify new search terms with high potential, and add them to your keyword list or revise your content to exclude these lower quality words you do not wish to be found for.

Generate new keyword suggestions, get an overview on volume, seasonality and cost per click data with the free keyword research tool Ubersuggest. To make things even better they added a filtering tool so you can find the right words for your business. Additional features include data on keyword difficulty and competitive intelligence.
